Amphenol's Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) connectors enable direct Ethernet connection to peripherals in industrial applications with high data transfer rates. These include sensors, actuators and cameras for machine vision systems operating at speeds of up to one gigabit per second. They consist of space-saving but robust SPE sockets, which are available in right-angled or vertical versions. This allows uncomplicated PCB mounting without any problems.
In combination with field-terminable connectors, Amphenol offers a fully shielded interface with metal interlocking. The current carrying capacity of up to four amps supports Power over Data Link (PoDL) up to one kilometer.
As more and more sensors require transmission rates that fieldbus systems can no longer provide, the need for powerful yet slim cabling increases significantly. Apart from the larger space requirement, however, classic, four-core Ethernet infrastructures are also not economically feasible for most field applications. With SPE connectors from Amphenol, on the other hand, structures are significantly optimized and costs are saved at the same time. In addition to data transmission via Ethernet, they can also be used to simultaneously supply power to the end devices via Power over Data Line.
Amphenol's SPE connectors open up new possibilities and application areas for Industrial Ethernet, especially in automation and railroad technology. The miniaturized SPE standard interface for industrial applications can efficiently reach every sensor and actuator in the field in combination with slim SPE cables.
