Connection technology for outdoor applications

The 696 series Harsh-Environment Connector (HEC) from Franz Binder GmbH & Co. Elektrische Bauelemente KG is specially designed for use in agricultural machinery, process plants and other demanding environments. It withstands submersion, high-pressure cleaning, chemicals, UV radiation and extreme temperatures. In addition to the power supply, the hybrid version also enables the signal connection of machine and system components. At the same time, it is characterised by its compact design - designed for confined installation conditions. The bayonet quick-locking mechanism enables simple and fast connection.

The cable connectors and square flange parts of the 696 series are also available with a protective conduit, offer reliable protection against mechanical, chemical and climatic influences and meet the IP68 (dust and waterproof) and IP69K (mated) protection classes. With IP69K, the 696 is protected against irradiation with water under high pressure. The 5- to 12-pole connectors are designed for rated voltages of 60 to 600 V and currents of 3 to 32 A. They operate reliably at operating temperatures of up to 100°C. They work reliably at operating temperatures from -40 to +100 °C, are UV, oil and petrol resistant and vibration-proof thanks to crimp connection. This non-detachable, solderless mechanical connection technology ensures a particularly tight fit of the stranded wire on the connection part of the contact.

The components of the 696 series have both VDE and UL approval. The HEC's target applications include plants in the process industry, including chemical and non-contact food technology, conveyor technology, as well as machines in agriculture, construction or mining and open-cast mining.
