More sources of danger due to high temperatures

Safety light curtains from Schmersal are used for safeguarding

With the midsummer temperatures, the risk of spontaneous combustion increases in industry, for example due to dust explosions or chemical reactions. The SLC/SLG440 safety light curtains/grids from K.A. Schmersal GmbH & Co. KG have now also been developed in an Ex version and can be installed in potentially explosive gas and dust atmospheres and are used to safeguard hazardous areas, danger zones and machine access points. When one or more beams are interrupted, the hazardous movement is brought to a standstill.

In many manufacturing sectors, there is an increased risk of explosion when temperatures rise, for example in the chemical industry, refineries or paint shops where flammable coatings are used. In industries that process bulk materials, such as the animal feed or recycling industries, as well as in sawmills and plants that process grain and grains, there is a risk of dust explosion and the formation of an explosive dust cloud during normal operation.

It is precisely for these applications that Schmersal has developed the SLC/SLG440 safety light curtains/grids in Ex design. The new EX-SLC/SLG440 series is designed in the ignition protection types EX d (gas atmospheres), EX t (dust atmospheres) and EX op is (optical radiation) and is thus especially suitable for access guarding of potentially explosive areas in industrial production - particularly for zones 1 and 21.
