Space is at a premium in the energy sector - at least as far as space requirements are concerned. TE Connectivity has therefore developed very compact right-angle connectors for smaller switchgear. This is because the new modular and smaller switchgear systems that are now being used in the energy industry require space-saving connection solutions. The Raychem ELBA asymmetrical compact right-angle connector from TE Connectivity can reduce the stacking length by 40 %, making it the most compact design currently on the market. This space-saving design is complemented by increased reach and mounting flexibility.
A standard size can cover up to 1,500 Kcmil (unit for cable cross-sections), allowing one connector to be used instead of two, simplifying the design and assembly process. TE's first IEEE-certified smart-compatible compact right-angle connectors can reduce stacking length by 40% thanks to their flexible, streamlined design.
It is TE's first compact connector that is compatible with IEEE 386-2016 certified smart voltage measurement systems and allows for easy and flexible assembly. These features make it the ideal choice for wind farms, data centres, solar farms, underground power grids and other facilities where space is limited and quick project turnaround is critical.
TE Connectivity's broad approach to connector solutions for the energy industry is explained by Dr. Leif Wiebking, Vice President, in the video.
