Current measurement of alternating current

Electricity metering system for retrofitting for space-saving energy data acquisition

Rogowski coils are used for current measurement of alternating current and are primarily used for retrofitting in existing systems, either on busbars or power cables. In addition to their compact dimensions, the new space-saving 855 Series Rogowski coils from WAGO are particularly impressive due to their high measuring accuracy of accuracy class 1 in accordance with EN 61869.

Rogowski 855 Series coils are the optimal current measurement method for retrofitting for space-saving energy data acquisition, as they can be easily integrated into existing systems without interrupting ongoing processes thanks to a separable coil body and a bayonet lock. There are no saturation effects with this technology; the Rogowski coils can therefore record a wide primary current range without any loss of accuracy. Modern manufacturing methods enable accuracy class 1 in accordance with EN 61869 and eliminate the need for adjustment between the coil and the measuring device.

The rated insulation voltages of 1000 V Cat. III/600 V Cat. IV and the available coil diameters of 70, 125 and 175 mm open up new installation possibilities. Signal cables of 1.5 and 4.5 m avoid costly and signal-distorting extensions. Further technical refinements, such as fastening straps for fixing with cable ties, the sealable bayonet catch and the wide temperature range of -40 °C to +80 °C, guarantee safe and easy handling.
