Protection against voltage fluctuations

Prevention of damage through electronic device protection

Electronic devices are sensitive to voltage fluctuations in the power grid. Electronic device protection ensures that the devices are protected against damage caused by overvoltage or undervoltage. With the new PTCB single-channel miniature circuit-breakers from Phoenix Contact, loads with a supply voltage of 48 V DC are now also electronically protected.

The device protection can be combined with the Clipline terminal block portfolio. The circuit breakers can be quickly and easily integrated into the potential distribution system with standard terminal block accessories and connected to each other. The 6.2 mm width matches the terminal block portfolio and saves important space on the top-hat rail. The miniature circuit-breaker is available with a fixed rated value of 2 A or with an adjustable rated current in the range from 1 to 6 A. This allows the rated current to be flexibly adapted to the application and reduces storage costs. The LED on the front with intuitive traffic light colors and the potential-free signaling contact make the status of the application transparent for users, both locally and remotely. This makes it easier to clearly identify faults and supports precise fault localization and rapid recovery. The multi-stage tripping characteristic with dynamic short-circuit detection is optimized for starting different loads.

In addition to the Clipline terminal blocks, the PTCB circuit breakers can be combined with the 48 V DC QUINT or Trio power supply units from Phoenix Contact to create a reliable 48 V DC overall concept.
The video describes the advantages of the Narrow Electronic Circuit Breakers from Phoenix Contact using the 24 V version as an example.
